This quantity effects from the normal classes of the second one foreign Workshop of the Moscow ACM SIGMOD bankruptcy "Advances in Databases and data structures" (ADBIS'95) that came about 27th-30th June 1995, in Moscow, Russia. ADBIS'95 keeps a sequence of annual Workshops on Advances in Databases and data structures prepared via the Moscow ACM SIGMOD bankruptcy in cooperation with the Russian Founda tion for uncomplicated examine. previous profitable ADBIS meetings contain the ADBIS'93 and ADBIS'94 Workshops that happened in Moscow. The goals of those workshops are to supply a discussion board for the presentation and in-depth dialogue of complex study instructions that would successfully increase the development and use of destiny details platforms and to extend conversation among the jap and Western examine groups that have been previously separated and now have simply infrequent probabilities to engage. enhancing of the contacts and trade of rules among researchers from the East and from the West will finally result in greater collaboration among them. The ADBIS'95 demand Submissions attracted 60 submissions from 15 international locations of which 35 submissions have been authorized for presentation on the average classes, nine as posters, and seven as displays for a distinct consultation for the data structures for technology. This quantity comprises the papers provided within the common sessions.

1 Introduction A real-time database system (RTDBS) is a database system designed to process transactions having timing constraints associated with them. Usually, it means that transactions have completion deadlines. RTDBSs are useful for applications which are both data intensive and subject to real-time constraints such as: network management, computer aided manufacturing, process control, stock trading, aircraft control, military command and control [2, 7]. All these applications require both the database consistency constraints to be maintained and the transaction timing constraints to be satisfied.

The RTDBS simulator called sim_rt was built using the C++ object-oriented programming language. 0 and the SPARCworks development system. A database is modeled as a collection of data pages. The databaseSize parameter defines its size in pages. A transaction consists of elementary calls to the database (read page, write page operations). Two kinds of transactions are distinguished: RO (read only) transactions and RW (read/write) transactions. The transaction access pattern is generated once when a transaction enters the system and is also used when a transaction is restarted.

7 Conclusions In the paper, the optimistic concurrency control algorithm with dynamic serialization adjustment for firm deadline real-time database systems was presented. A quantitative study of the relative performance of the proposed algorithm and two other algorithms was made. The results show significant improvement of the performance offered by the DYNAMIC algorithm over the OCC. The comparison with the OPT-BC shows rather insignificant improvement. We must admit that the implementation costs are higher for the DYNAMIC algorithm.
